ULTRASOUND DEPARTMENT

The “GENESIS ATHENS” Clinic has an organized department providing General and Gynaecological Ultrasound Scans. We use state-of-the-art ultrasound tomographs, 3D/4D colour imaging and specialized scientific staff (gynaecologists-radiologists) to perform ultrasound scans of all organs of the human body. The gynaecologists at the “GENESIS ATHENS” Clinic use the cervical slide ultrasound to monitor the health of both pregnant woman and fetus in the first three months of pregnancy. In the second three months of pregnancy it is possible to perform a comprehensive fetal anatomy ultrasound scan (b-level) for a detailed study of fetal anatomy. In the last three months of pregnancy the colour Doppler ultrasound can be used to monitor the proper development and growth of the fetus. Further, the Clinic can carry out invasive procedures during pregnancy, such as sampling of trophoblastic tissue to screen the trophoblastic tissue (placenta), and sampling of amniotic fluid – amniocentesis (between weeks 16 and 20). In addition, this department is responsible for the timely, painless and accurate detection of disorders in other organs of the body, such as the upper and lower abdomen, scrotum, soft tissues, thyroid, breasts, and it also performs vascular color ultrasound scans (triplex).
